70%
VERDICT
The AAWireless TWO+ adapter is a convenient solution for car owners who want to eliminate the hassle of cables when using CarPlay or Android Auto. It's a sleek, compact device that plugs into your car's USB-A port and establishes a wireless connection between your smartphone and the vehicle's infotainment system.
Design and Compatibility
Measuring the size of a matchbox, the AAWireless TWO+ features a USB-C port for connecting the included USB-C to USB-A cable. It's designed for cars that require a cable connection to activate CarPlay or Android Auto. However, it's important to note that if your car already has USB-C ports and supports wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, this adapter might not be necessary.
Wireless Connection
The adapter's main function is to create a wireless connection between your phone and the car's infotainment system. When you enter your vehicle, your iPhone or Android device will automatically connect to the AAWireless TWO+, enabling CarPlay or Android Auto without the need for cables.
Testing and Performance
During our tests, we connected the adapter to a Kia Sportage, which required a cable connection for CarPlay activation. The illuminated button on the adapter displayed different colors to indicate connection status: blinking green for phone connection, blinking blue for car screen connection, and solid blue for a fully connected setup.
We encountered an issue when trying to pair the adapter with our iPhone 17 Pro Max. Despite following the instructions, the AAWireless TWO+ failed to appear in the iPhone's Bluetooth menu, even after an hour of attempts. This was a surprising contrast to our experience with the previous model, which worked seamlessly with Android Auto.
Companion App
The AAWireless TWO+ also comes with a companion app, which we attempted to use for connection. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it to work with our iPhone 17 Pro Max either. We suspect that the unit might be faulty, but we were assured that it should establish a wireless connection for CarPlay.
Online Reviews and Firmware Update
Online reviews revealed that some customers have faced similar connection issues with CarPlay. AAWireless is reportedly working on a firmware update to address these problems.
Hands-Free Convenience
Once connected, the AAWireless TWO+ enables hands-free use of messaging, mapping, and music apps, enhancing the overall driving experience.
Pricing and Availability
The AAWireless TWO+ is priced at $109.99 on Amazon. It's a worthwhile investment for those seeking a cable-free, convenient way to use CarPlay and Android Auto in their vehicles.
